Koshiro Shikine is an artist who employs multiple media, including sculpture, to attempt to express the relationship between himself and his surrounding society and environment. This exhibition departs from an interest in the contemporary forms of perception symbolized by short videos—a continuous succession of "highlights" devoid of context. When only "results," severed from causality and the flow of time, are repeated, the event becomes suspended, and the moment that was meant to be emphasized is hollowed out. Through video and sculpture, the repetition of these events that fail to fully materialize exposes the very circuits through which our sensations and emotions are generated. What is this subtle sense of dissonance? The exhibition unravels a narrative fragment about spilled coffee.
